Obituary

Otis Henry Jr. was the first child of Otis and Lois Henry Sr, born July 11, 1987 in Baltimore, Maryland. He leaves a legacy of unwavering devotion to his church, family and community. Otis was a man who embodied outstanding leadership, family values, loyalty and corpmitment to his peers, a genuine love of life, quest for knowledge and enthusiasm for the Lord.

Otis received his early education at Harvard Johnson Junior High School followed by his high school years at Carver Technical High School in Baltimore City. Upon completion of High School at the young tender a Otis pursued a path which included the love of his country. Otis sacrificed his time and family to Honorably serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. from May 1957 to March 1961, Otis completed two tours as a Marine. He was a proud Sergeant E-5 while training as an Engineer Stock Foreman and a Radio Relay Technician. After traveling the world fighting for his country, Otis was Honorably Discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1961; receiving his second Award of Good Conduct from the United States Armed Forces. Otis went on to work for the Ffderal Government in Fort Meade, Maryland as a Communication Specialist from 1965 to 1992. At the age of 52, Otis decided to devote his time to his family when he retired with 27 years of Civil Service.

Not ready to settle in a rocker he decided to rededicate his life to the Lord which included going back to school with a focus on Christian Education. In March 2011 Otis became an Ordained Minister. From then until his last day his love for knowledge and relationship with the Lord touched the lives ofso many. Not only was he the beloved Patriarch of his family, Otis was a respected and admired Minister, Sunday School teacher, and counselor. Even with his ailments Otis cringed at the thought of not being able to spread God's Word to anyone who would listen. He continued to teach the Word of God to members of the community at Emmanuel Temple Church.

Otis leaves to cherish his memory: a beloved wife of 60 years Carrie Maderline the girl next door, five children. Sheila Tewanda, Otis Henry, III, Cynthia Juanita who proceeded him in heaven, Carla Yvonne (Parks) and Yohance Anum.
