Obituary

Addie Lee was the eighth of eleven children born to Pastor David Blackwell, Sr., and Essie Lee Dorsey. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, beloved sister, and dear friend. She was reared in a Christian home and sang inthechoir at school, St.JohnDivine Church, andthechurchherfather pastored, Little Rock Baptist Church in Foley, Alabama.



Addiestartedmodeling as a teenager and became a debutante beforemarryingherhusband Vernon Williams, on June 12,1959.She laterwenton to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing.Addie and Vernon moved with their first son, Victor Carlson,to Baltimore, Maryland.



Addiewasaneducator for Baltimore City Public Schools and was a seamstress for many years until her daughter was born when she became a full-time wife and mother to her four children. She enjoyed singing, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. She often sewed her family's clothing for special occasions at New Shiloh Baptist Church. After their children were grown, Addie and Vernon traveled often from Baltimore to Southern Maryland, Chicago, and beyond.



Addie Lee is withherhusband Vernon Williams,who preceded her in death by five days.



She is survived byherchildren Vince Williams and wife Monika, VernonL.Williams, and Vasama Lee Vern Williams,hergrandchildren Leyah King, Jeremiah Williams, and Mary Lee Williams; 12 additional grandchildren and by 14 greatgrandchildren andherbrothers and sisters Dorothy Lee Adams "Dot," William Blackwell "Willie," EdwenaE.Janes Watson "Punkin," Lillian "BabyLil,"and Regina.



She was preceded in death byherson VictorC.Williams and brothers and sisters Mary Moultrie, Juanita Blackwell Thomas, David Blackwell, Jr., and AbrahamR.Blackwell "Ham."
