On Thursday, August 23, 2012, after a lengthy illness, Agnes Hinton departed this life and went on to her Heavenly Home. Agnes was born in Tarboro, Norht Carolina on January 21, 1932 to the late James Plummer and Geneva Jones, who later married Charlie Bridgers who raised Agnes as his own. Agnes spent her early childhood years in Tarboro, North Carolina where she attended the public school system and joined Batts Chapel Baptist church along with her sisters and brothers, Shirley Mae, Barbara Jene, Blondell, Charlie Jr., Wilbert Lee, James, Larry Calvin and Glen. Agnes married Willie Hinton, Sr. in 1951 until he departed this earth in 1972. Agnes worked hard over the years. She loved to play card, watch the Orioles play baseball, watch certain television programs, eat ice cream and enjoy the company of her family. Agnes was admired and loved by all and she will be missed. She had many sayings; "Hard times ease my trouble mind," "If you don't bear no cross, you can't wear no crown." She leaves to mourn; six sons, Lester, Wayne, Dennis, Charles, Ray and Carnell; three daughters, Bettie Lou, Carolyn and Lisa; one son-in-law, three daughters-in-law. Agnes also leaves to mourn a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of other relatives and friends. The grandchildren that gave her the most joy, Jackie, Big Sam, Tinesha, Logan and AJ. She was preceded in death by sons, Willie Lee Jr. "Joe" and Frank; and daughter , Linda "Faye;" William Anderson, Jr. who was her longtime devoted companion; and Ray Miller who she looked up to as her big brother.
