Obituary

On Thursday, September 29. 2011, Alex Wesley Jefferson, Jr., affectionely known as "Jeff" and "Jr." to fasmily and friends, was called home to be with our Lord. Alex was born born on December 6, 1945 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Beatrice Knotts Jefferson and Alex Wesley Jefferson Sr., Alex was the first of three sons, Dwight deceased, and Leland. Jeff received his early eaducation in the Baltimore City Public School System in Baltimore, Maryland. Jeff graduated from Forest Park Senior High School in June of 1963, where he received the Best Athlete Award in 1963. Alex attended and was a member of Union Memorial United Methodist Church with his family. He received his undergraduate degree from Maryland State College UMES in June of 1968. during his matriculation at Maryland State College, Jeff pledged and was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on december 12, 1964. Jeff received as academic achievement medal while a student at Maryland State College UMES during the 15th annual concocation ceremony. He pursued graduate studies aft coppin State college from 1970 - 1976 and received a Masters plus 30 credits in early childhood education. While a student at Maryland State College, Jeff met and later married on November 23, 1966, the former Helen Wall. Three sons were born from their union - Alex III, Jermal Donald. Jeff was a member of the Pioneer Rod and Gun Club, Inc from 1971 to September 29, 2011. Jeff played on the Sportsmen's Lounge Basketball League and the team won many of their games. He loved sports, hunting, fishing, working with his plants, hanging out with the Hawk and his grandchildren. He will always be remembered for his big smile, sense of humor, his fun and energetic personality, "James Brown," "Wilson Pickett," and let's not forget the big "O" - "Otis Redding." There are so many more things we can say about Jeff but most of all, he was a devoted and loving husband , father, brother, friend, uncle, and granddad that will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him. Alex Wesley Jefferson, Jr., leaves to cherish his memory; devoted wife of forty-five years, Helen; three sons Alex III and his wife Patricia, Jermal and his wife Tina and Donald and his devoted friend Dawn; six grandchildred, Christopher, Kamyah, Shamera, Darien, Destiny and Alex IV; two spirital grandchildren, Rodney and Omari; one brother Lelan; four aunts and two uncles, sive sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, a evoted nephew dwight Jr., and his wife Latica ahnd a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
