IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alex E.
Julius
April 8, 1965 – December 14, 2017
Alex Eugene Julius, lovingly known as "Puggy" to his family, was born on April 8, 1965. He was the beloved son of Hannah Julius and the late Wilson Julius, Sr. Alex accepted the Lord at an early age after he joined New Trinity Church under the leadership of Bishop Matthew Norton Sr.
He received his education in the Baltimore City Public School System where he graduated with honors. After high school, Alex enlisted in the military where he honorably served in the U.S. Army as a 74-Delta Computer Operator/Technician.
An avid cook, Alex lived for the opportunity to try his hand at creating new dishes. He loved spices and didn't shy away from experimenting with them in all of his meals; sometimes to his family'S dismay. He was not one to turn away any challenger to his culinary crown. His main cooking competitors were his nephew Travis, his niece Lorebeth, his mother Hannah, his daughter Alexa, and really any chef in any restaurant! Whether in the oven, on the stove top or even on the grill he would never admit defeat. The most you could hope for was an "J could top that, if I actually tried." Tender Beef, juicy chicken, or succulent ribs; he could prepare them all.
Combine cooking with his love of music, you'd often find him listening to Blues, Jazz, Big Band, R&B and of course Motown while he was working on one of his culinary masterpieces. B.B. King, the Temptations, Benny Goodman and Prince would be resonating with the clang of pots and pans when he was throwing down in the kitchen.
Uncle Puggy also had a great love for all of his nieces and nephews. The children quickly learned that he was the person to go to for Twizzlers, Swedish fish, Sour gummies and other sweet treats. Somehow a few pieces of candy mysteriously found their way into the kids' hands right before it was time to leave.
There was one thing that he loved above all others; that was his children. De' Andre and Alexa were his whole world. If you asked them, they would tell you that he loved and supported them, no matter where they were in life. Through the good times and hard, with their good choices and the not so good ones, Alex never left them. He was always there to love them, encourage them, and advise them.
Alex was called home by God on December 14, 2017. He was preceded in death by his eldest sister Frances. He has now been reunited with her, his father Wilson Sr. and his Grandmother Onie whom he lovingly called "Dear". He leaves to mourn his mother Hannah, four brothers, Wilson Jr., Matthew, Kevin and Roderick, two sisters Sonia and Penny, his two children, De' Andre and Alexa, one grandchild Chanelle, 12 nieces and nephews and, a host of great nieces and great nephews including Cyan, Kinley, Azrel, Kaleb and Jordan.
