IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alexander
Bagley
April 27, 1922 – December 9, 2020
Alexander Bagley, son of Thomas and Ella Bagley, was born on April 27, 1922 in Fairfield County, South Carolina. He departed this life at Alice Manor Nursing Home on December 9, 2020.
He spent his childhood years in Chester, South Carolina and moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1938. He began his career as a mechanic and car repairman. He later worked for the City of Baltimore, Department of Parks and Recreation in Druid Hill Park for 35 years.
Alexander was a Deacon and active member of the New Bethlehem Baptist Church until he was unable to attend. He derived great joy from singing old-time gospel hymns throughout his life.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt, fish and shoot. He was a loyal Orioles fan, enjoyed every aspect of baseball, and spent many years coaching his sons from little league through high school. He loved to tinker as a self-taught TV repairman. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Christine, until he could no longer travel, criss-crossing the United States many times. He was well-respected for his witty sense of humor, no non-sense seriousness, and ability to beat almost anyone at cards and checkers. Even in the nursing home, he was active and vibrant until his last few months playing cards and bingo, cracking jokes, and making everyone laugh.
He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Christine Bagley, his daughter, Gloria Duckett, his son, Edward Reid, and his seven brothers, Willie, Thomas L., O.B., David, Joe, Lee, and Jimmy.
He leaves to mourn his sister, Shirley Simms, son, Kevin Bagley and daughters, Jackie Bagley, Dorise Salem and Cheryl Salem, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
