IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alice J.
Brown
November 20, 1937 – July 12, 2024
ALICE J. BROWN (affectionately known as "Tookie"), daughter of the late William (Poppa Goose) Chambers Sr. and Mary (Skippy) Chambers, was born on November 20, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. The last of seven children, she departed this life at 10:15 p.m. on July 12, 2024, at the home of Chet & Tricia Brown.
Alice was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. After graduating from Carver, she pursued her dream of becoming a career woman and went to work for the Social Security Administration (SSA). On November 23, 1957, she married Robert M. Brown. From this union two children were born, Robert M. Brown Jr. (who preceded her in death) and Chet M. Brown.
In the mid '70s to the mid '80s she enjoyed socializing at Club 1214 (her brother Bernard's place) and following the Jolly Jacks softball club (sponsored by her brother Bernard). In 1986, she retired from SSA and enjoyed not getting up early for a couple of months before taking part time work to supplement her new joys of playing the Lottery and going to the Casinos.
In 1998 she welcomed into the family Tricia L. Brown, who would later give her three grandsons. These boys gave her memorable moments every time they were with her. She enjoyed going out to eat anywhere. It did not matter what was on the menu and if you have ever eaten with her, she takes food home because she eats very slowly. She was big on "Family Over Everything". When she has a conversation with you, she listens attentively and hears what you are saying, she would meet you on whatever level you were on. Although she was quiet in nature, she had a positive impact on the many people whose lives she has touched throughout the years.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Chet M. Brown; daughter- in-law, Tricia L. Brown; three grandsons, Chet M. Brown II, (Robert M. Brown preceded her in death) and William R. Brown; brother-in-law, James "Uncle Jimmy" Brown; sisters-in-law, Janet Brown-Simmons and Marquerite Chambers-Quarles; special neighbors on Coleherne Road, Sharon Alston and Mr. & Mrs. Oden; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death are Robert M. Brown (husband), Baby Girl Chambers, William "Bus" Chambers (Gloria Chambers), Theresa "Tress" Cornish, Vernon Chambers, Bernard Chambers (Doris Chambers), Donald Chambers (Barbrah Jean Chambers), Charlotte Skinner (sister-in-law), and Ella Mae Rawles-Brown (Uncle Jimmy).
