We are here to celebrate the life of Alice Armenia Fletcher who touched the lives and hearts of people in so many ways with her infectious smile and heart of gold. Alice was born on September29, 1944in Baltimore,Maryland to the late Dan and Mary Coleman. She passed away peacefully at her home on June 7, 2020 at the age of75.
Alice grew up in Virginia as oneoften children. Herfamily returned to Baltimore when she was a preteen. She would graduate from Frederick Douglass High School inBaltimore, Maryland and go on to work as a clerk with Maryland State Government's DHR until her retirement in 2008.
Alice met and fall in love with James Harold Fletcher. On July 20, 1968, they married. From this union they welcomed four wonderful children,Carl, Danette, BarbaraandEarcella.James brought two beautiful children,SherbyandJames Jr.with him whom Alice also loved dearly. James preceded her in death on January 5, 1999.
On March 26, 1983 Alice was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses after studying the Bible. She attended the Mondawmin and Windsor Mill Congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. Alice's dedication to Jehovah was evident in her active share in the ministry, helping others to learn what the Bible teaches. It was herservice, dedication and her strong faith in Jehovah thatmade her the humble and unique spirit we came to knowand love.
Anyone that truly knew the divine character andgentle spiritof'Mommy' knew that there wasn't anything . that she would not do for someone she loved or that was inneed. She extended herself and her home on numerous occasions to anyone who needed her. Mommy loved to . cook and anyone who knows her knew that her macaroni
and cheese was outofthis world even though she had acalmdemeanor and loved so intensely, she had no problem using that left hand to remind you who wasincharge. She also had that look. Oh, that look she wouldgiveto put you backinline. She was the best mother, grandmother and so much more to those that entered herlife.
Alice was precededindeath by three sisters: Vernell,Doris and Faye and one brother Leon.
Alice leaves to cherish her memory her children: Carl,Danette, Barbara, Earcella, Sherby and James Jr.; her siblings: Gertrude{James,) Elaine, Carole (the late Henry,) Jean (Carl) and Johnny (Nadine) who are now missing their beloved sister; her grandchildren: Shaukeria, Asha, Diamond, Donovan, Logan,Taylor,Tobias and Toni; and a host of loving great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and in-laws.
Although she fell asleepinJehovah's memory, shewillnever be removed from our hearts, minds and spirits.
