Obituary

ALICE HOPKINS was born February 11, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland.
She was the daughter of the lateJames and Alice Johnson. She was the
youngest of 5 siblings, 3 preceded her in death, Mabel Johnson, Arthur

Johnson and Levenia Moore. One living sister, Dorothy Hairston, when
you saw one, you knew the other was very close behind. Alice was
raised by Francis "Alberta" Childs-Robinson.

Alice attended and graduated from Douglass High School in
Baltimore, Maryland.

Alice was nurtured in a Christian home. At an early age she accepted
Jesus Christ, brought up and raised in Allen AME Church in
Baltimore, Maryland. She continued her fellowship at Allen,
being a member for over 70 years. She served as a trustee,
steward, and the treasurer of the church.

September 6, 1953, marked the day when Robert and Alice
entered into Holy Matrimony. God blessed them
to spend fifty-four years of wedded bliss. From this union was born
one son, Robert Jr.

Alice worked 33 years and retired from the Department of Social Services
as one of the first Black supervisors. She also served diligently at Forest
Park Senior Center. Over the years, her role expanded to become a valued
member of the center. Her duties included, but were not limited to, serving
as a member of the Executive Board. At the time of her death, she was
the only female to hold a position on the board as treasurer.

Alice enjoyed traveling throughout the continental United States. She was
an avid pinochle player. Her meticulous math skills was the reason she
served as treasurer at both, Allen and Forest Park Senior Center,
simultaneously at the time of her death.

Alice will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. The legacy
of love and joyful memories that she created and we all cherished will
remain in our heart forever. We recognize and thank God for blessing us
and allowing us the opportunity to love such an amazing woman. The love
that she shared constantly will be something that we will all forever cherish.

Our beloved woman of God, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister, aunt, and friend departed this life suddenly and leaves to mourn
their loss: a devoted son, Bobby; loving daughter-in-law, Desiree; one of
a kind sister, Dorothy Hairston; three granddaughters, Sherrah, Kandyce
(Montaize), Arryn Hopkins; two great-grandsons, Lamarr Leggett Jr. and
Montaize Alford [r.; brother-in-law, Perry Hopkins (Mickey); and a host of
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
