ALLEN NATHANIEL LANEY, son of the late Paul and Corine Laney, was born December 5, 1923 in Columbia, South Carolina. He departed this life on October 15, 2013. He was educated in the public school system in Columbia, South Carolina. After completion of high school, he moved here to Baltimore, Maryland. Allen had 3 adopted sisters (2 of whom preceded him in death) Willene Saunders and Dorothy Johnson. Allen was blessed by Almighty God to grow up in a deeply religious family led by his grandmother, Mother Julia Brooks. Allen received Christ at an early age. He was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. George Jacob Garnett. He dearly loved his home Church and Pastor and fully gave his support in the work of the Lord. In the mid 1970's, Allen joined in Christian fellowship with Bethel A.M.E. Church under the capable leadership of Reverend Dr. John R. Bryant. He was a faithful member of the Choir. He later joined with the Masonic Order and rose to 33rd degree Mason. Allen continued in the footsteps of his paternal grandmother and parents. He always kept the home clean and welcoming to family and visitors. He daily remembered his legacy and appreciated those who came before him. He lovingly celebrated the past, present and future of his people. He leaves to cherish his memory: one devoted sister, Rosalind Sumpter; one brother-in-law, Tyrone Sumpter; loving nieces and nephews, caring cousins and friends. Viewing Joseph H.
