Allen Bernard Vass affectionately known to those closest to him

as Botney or Gumps was born one of five to the late George and Eva

Vass.

Allen was reared in the Baltimore City School System. After

graduation he made the decision to serve his country by joining the

United States Army. There he served with pleasure until his honorable

discharge in 1960 as a Sergeant. He then started a career with C.H. Lears

where he worked as a driver for 30 years. After a long stretch he

decided once again to look into a career change. Allen decided to go on

to something new. For the next 15 years he worked for The Residence at

The Colonnade and took his final retirement as a dedicated and diligent

employee.

Botney loved to have fun. He was best known for his jokes and

making others laugh. Botney enjoyed watching sports and westerns like

most men. But what made it extra special for him was he got to watch

them wi~h his son Jr. One of his favorite past-times would include being

with his friends daily at the clubhouse and of course being at the family

gatherings for holidays and parties.

If you knew Botney you knew he was certainly taking a to-go

plate with him.

Allen leaves to cherish his legacy and memory His six children

Yvonne Vass, Allen B. Vass Jr., Yvette Vass-Arrington{Willie), Aaron Vass,

Harold Young (Janet) and Bernard Young. His siblings Faith Little and Jean

Vass. Allen is joining his two sisters that preceded him to glory Shirley

and Delores Vass.

He leaves his memory with a host of grandchildren, great-

grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Allen will also be missed by a devoted and loving companion

Yolanda Tate.
