Alphonso Mark Johnson, son of the late William Johnson and Jessie Reives, was born on April 29, 1960 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on May 19, 2012 after a brief illness. He received his education at Samuel Gompers High School, where he graduated in 1978. At the age of nineteen, he entered the Job Corps, where he obtained his knowledge of maintenance engineering. He later used the same skills to secure his position at the Department of Housing and Urban Development for the the next twenty years. He spent many afternoons and weekends with his "First and Ten Cowboys," where he coached for many years. Although Alphonso never married, he did share a lifelong bond with his childhood sweetheart, Gloria Batchelor. "Poncho," as he was lovingly referred to, mad numerous friends wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew him. He was always a true friend and devoted family man. He leaves mourn; a special friend, Yolanda Williams seven sons, Dontae, DeWayne, Darrnell, Arnell, Davon, Tavon and Travon Johnson; two daughters, Camya and Shamya Johnson; three stepchildren; fives, Regina, Lorraine, Angeline, Lucille and Carolyn Johnson; five brothers, Williams Jr., Bruce, Lionell, Allen and David Johnson; five grandchildren, Dontae Jr., Taelor, D'Lontae, Deja and Taedon Johnson; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
