Obituary

ALTHEA B. ROBINSON was born in Heathsville, Northumberland County, Virginia, daughter of the late Martha Day Jackson and Robert Columbus Jackson. Suddenly on Friday, September 14, 2007, Althea was called from this life to be with the lord. She served as a faithful member of Simmons Memorial Baptist Church and Missionary Ministry for over fifty years. She was also a member of the Building Ministry and very active in other ministries until her health failed. She loved her church and her pastor, Rev. Duane Simmons. Also, she traveled every year to her home church in Virginia, First Baptist of Heathsville, Va., Pastor fontaine. Althea met and married her husband of fifty-eight years, Melvin Robinson and was blessed with their only child from their marriage, daughter Deborah Robinson-Ghee. Althea was educated in the Maryland school system and graduated from business college. She was a very compassionate, caring and loving wife and mother and was dedicated to all of her endeavors throughout her life. She worked at The Jewish Family Services as a Department Supervisor in The Home Car Center in Baltimore City for over thirty years. She received an award for her outstanding services and received recognition by the Mayor's Office of Baltimore City when she reached twenty-five years of service. Althea worked very closely with Baltimore City Councilwoman Verda Welcome on various community efforts. She was a past member of Adah Chapter #10, working under the jurisdiction of Deborah Grand Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of the Adoptive Rite, Inc. for the State of Maryland for many years. Althea made numerous life-long friends over the years and will sincerely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are: her loving and devoted husband, Melvin Robinson; her daughter, Deborah Robinson-Ghee; stepbrother, Carlton Hart from Baltimore; an adopted daughter, Reba Dyson from Baltimore; nieces, Patricia Beck and Alice Dry-Gray from New York, Nancy Robinson and Alma Beauford from Baltimore; nephews, Willie Mitchener, James Dry, Jay Beck and Micheal Gray from New York; devoted cousins, Marie Lee Wo and Sherlean Langley; godchildren, Terrance McCombs and Fazon Dry.
