Alvera Elizabeth White Shields,daughter of late Vernon and Velma White was born on September 8, 1933. She was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 9, 2020.

Alvera received her education in Baltimore City Schools. She worked at Nursing homes throughout the city as a Nurse's Aide until she developed health issues that would not allow her to continue working. She was a generous dedicated mom and granny to everyone and she loved and enjoyed being around family and friends. She loved cooking, eating, playing cards, family gatherings, joking and having fun with her children and grandchildren.

Alvera was preceded in death by her late husband Lonnie Shields, life time companion Allen Stokes, her sister Delores McCoy, her brother Vernon B. White, three sons Samuel White, Lawrence and Melvin Shields, one grandson Lawrence Shields Jr., and son-in-law Webster Johns.

She leaves to cherish her memoryfour daughters Alvera C. Stokes-Johns, Dorothy Banks (Samuel), Thelma Shields and Celestine Parker.One son Tyrone Shields. One sister Mable McKee Pittman.Fifteen grandchildren Lachelle (Eugene), Sharvon (Tim), Corey (Dawn), Samantha, Kevin (Tonya), William (LaKeisha), Sharon (Lloyd), Quwanda, Andre, Qutrya, Lance, DaKera, DeQuan, Darryl, and Shakera (Anthony). One daughter-in-law Marvenia Shields and son-in-law William Brandford.

Forty great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
