Alvin Rooks, Jr. was born on January 14, 1949 to the late Alvin Rooks, Sr. and Mildred Patterson rooks in the city of Baltimore, Mdaryland. after a lengthy illness, God call Alvin to rest on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Alvin accepted Christ and became a member of The Friendship Baptist Church family. Alvin received his education in the Baltimore City school system, graduating from Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in 1967. Alvin enlisted in the U.S. Army and upon serving his tour of duty, returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Judy Black. This union was blessed and enriched with three beautiful children. continuing protect and serv his country and community, alvin was employed as a Correctional Officer for the State of Maryland until his illness caused him to seek early retirement. Alvin was a dedicated family man, a loving husband and father to emulated by all. A man who strongly believed in family, he enjoyed family picnics, and outings that brought everyone togather to enjoy his fun-loving antics and jokes. alvin was an avid sports fan who especially loved baseball, football and horseracing. He also enjoyed traveling and bowling. His kind spirit and upbeat personality made for a wonderful relationship with everyone he encountered. Alvin leaves to cherish his memory and legacy; his loving wife, Judy;his children, Alphea, Alvin III, and Allison; one daughter-in-law, Shashana Defour Rooks; his mother, Mrs. Mildred Rooks; five brothers, Eric, Darnell, Kennith, MacAllister and Derek; three sisters, Alvina Faulks, Patricia Evans, Darlene Rooks simmons deceased; six grand-children, Teniera, Emori, Arianna, Janae, Imani and David; six sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law; two uncles, Melvin Patterson and Cleveland rooks; three aunts, Esther Johnson, Dorothy Patterson and Naomi Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
