Obituary

On a cool August morning, bright from the sun, Alvin Leroy Reddick entered into God's kingdom and rejoined with loved ones. Born June 6, 1929 on the first floor front of his mother's apartment in Boston, Massachusetts, Alvin Reddick, father, husband, grandfather, loving family member, loyal friend, and trusting neighbor began his life journey as the archetypal "good man." With natural intellect and deep rooted values, Alvin graduated from Boston's public school system in 1948. From there he joined the U.S. Navy to pursue a worldly education and for seven years traveled to Korea, Brazil, Spain, Nova Scotia, Panama, and beyond. In 1955, he furhter served his country in the United States Postal Service as a clerk until he retired thirty years later. Alvin was a member of the Mason Lodge. In 1967, Alvin met his second wife and life-long love, the late Edna Elizabeth Beasely Reddick, until he endued her passing in 2003. Edna entered their marriage with four children, Denise, Renee, Derwin and William; and from their union they had Bryan. Alvin is survived by his children; daughter-in-law, Tanya Simpson and Karen Conyers; grandchildren Derwin Jr., corey, Brittany, Kiara, Trina, Anita, Nadene, Damien, Kelly, Kristopher, Shanice, Ryan and Sydney; great-grandchildren, a host of extended family, friends and those who will miss him. Alvin leaves us not to mourn, but to honor a legacy of a good, long life.
