Blount
October 8, 1928 – April 16, 2019
Amos "Buddy" H. Blount was born October 8, 1928 in Tarboro, North Carolina to the late Reverend Amos J. Blount III and Florence Stancial Blount. Amos was called home on Tuesday April 16, 2019 at the age of 90. Amos was pre-deceased by both his parents and his five siblings William Henry Blount, Maggie Petaway, Roberta Ashley, Genevieve Carmon and Carrie Belle Hopkins.
Amos is survived by his wife of 62 years Virginia J. Blount, together they parented seven children, Valerie, Virginia, James, Deborah, Arthur, Pamela, and Kandi. Amos and Virginia were blessed with twenty grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and eleven great-great grandchildren.
Amos H Blount honorably served in the Army Air Force between the years of 1945 – 1947 during WWII. During his years of service, he was a Special Vehicle Operator and received a Victory Medal for his service. In 1952 Amos moved to Baltimore, MD. In 1957 he married his wife Virginia. While in Baltimore he worked for the MD Transit Authority as a bus driver, later his entrepreneurial spirit guided him to trucking where he was an owner/operator.
In 1974 Amos and Virginia moved to Cecil County, Maryland where they purchased a house and enjoyed gardening where they grew plenty of fruits and vegetables. He later worked at Lincoln University in security while also operating a small business where he sold fresh fish at a local market in Oxford PA. In December of 1976, Amos was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness, one month after his wife Virginia embraced the faith.
In 2002, Amos and Virginia returned to Baltimore where he resided until his passing. Amos was always outgoing and loved to entertain others with his knowledge and life lessons.
Amos leaves behind two sister's in-law, Etta Wright and Martha Bowman,one brother in-law, Frank Thomas,two son in-laws,Wilmond Tucker and Christopher Lindsay and one daughter in-law to be, Melissa Hickman,also left to cherish his memory are a host of nieces, nephews, beloved cousins and friends.
