AMOS SPRUELL , JR ., son of the late Amos and Arrena Spruell, was born August 4, 1931, in Oak City, North Carolina. On Saturday, February 11, 2017, he entered his Heavenly home.
Amos, known to family and friends as "June" grew up in Oak City, North Carolina where he attended public school. It was in North Carolina where he met his wife, the late Eloise Watson. Friends and neighbors always looked forward to greeting him when he sat on the porch as part of his personal neighborhood watch.
He joined Wayland Baptist Church with Eloise and faithfully attended Sunday service until his illness. Amos has taken his place in the Kingdom of God and leaves to cherish his memory: his four children, Ellis (Montress) of Tucson, AZ , Amos, Carnell and Rosalind Howard of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren, Syreta, Amos Alphonso, [r., Damon, Mandrell, Breion and Gregory Howard; six great-grandchildren, Braxton, Payton, Faith, General, Damon and Lanae: two brothers, Louis and Johnny Spruell; eight sisters, Vina Cody, Hattie Spruell, Magdalene Jackson, Dorothy Moore, Hazel Williams, Mary Spruell, Joyce Collier and Jean Spruell; six sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members; special friends including Spencer Raigns and other family friends.
