ANDRE JOHNSON, born July 26, 1956, was the son of Myrtle Walker and late Rigby Johnson. He departed his life on December 16, 2024. Andre was affectionately called "OJ" to many.

Andre grew up in the Leadenhall Baptist Church and loved attending Sunday School with many of the neighborhood children.

Andre received his education in the Baltimore City School System. During his school years, Andre was an avid basketball player for many programs throughout the city which included recreational programs and many other leagues.

Andre enjoyed watching all types of sports. He was also well known throughout Baltimore and surrounding areas. People knew him from South Baltimore, Poplar Grove Area, West Baltimore, Edmondson Village just to name a few. Andre was such a social butterfly to all. He loved fashion and he knew how to wear them as well. Andre always had something to say about everything.

Once Andre became a grandfather, he had a buddy named "Shorty" and granddaughter he called "Annie." He loved to take them around the neighborhood. Oh, how his grandchildren loved to call him because he would give them the world. You could catch them eating ice cream in the middle of the night or any other snack they wanted. Pop-pop made these grandchildren's day because they knew he would break all the rules.

Words cannot express how Andre was his mother's Apple in her eyes. The bond they shared will always live in her heart. You could hear her calling Andre, and everyone knew that he had better answer. Andre was her love, and he knew it too! Everybody knew how "Mirk" felt about her Andre and their love was unconditional.

He leaves to mourn: his mother, Myrtle Walker; daughter, Kayla; grandchildren, Akil and Zariyah Wise; nieces Sandy, Amari; nephew, De'Angelo (DJ); and godbrother, Eric Mitchell. Preceding him in death were his father Rigby, brother Tony, niece Tara, and lifetime friend Patricia Gantt.
