Obituary

Anna Mae Gillard Jackson, second of six children born to the late Henry and Marie Richardson Gillard on June 5, 1928 in Georgia was called from labor to reward on January 29, 2014. She received her early education and spiritual training in Georgia. Upon coming to Baltimore, Maryland with her parents in the South Baltimore Community, she continued her education in the public schools of Baltimore City and her spiritual growth continued at the Leadenhall Baptist Church under Rev. Madison Crenshaw Allen where she joined. After the death of the oldest sister Parmetta, Anna became the big sister to Betty, William (Bunny), Thomas, and Vera. Anna was married to the late William Edward Frazier and from that union, two children were born; Glenn and Angela Frazier. Years later, she married the late Donald Jackson and from this union, six children were born; Parmetta, twins, Donald and Ronald, LaVersa, Shawn, and Breita. Anna later joined the Gillis Memorial Christian Community Church under Rev. Theodore Jackson, Jr. over fifty years ago and was very active in various ministries. Anna also supported other ministries in her community. She greatly enjoyed gospel music in which she allowed God to speak to her spirit. Anna was a gifted seamstress and worked in many capacities. She retired from the Fish Manufacturer Company. Anna's passion was crocheting, which brought her great enjoyment. Anna will always be remembered as the matriarch of the family, an excellent cook, having a million dollar smile, a great mother, and a wonderful sister. She leaves to celebrate her life her eight children Glenn Frazier, Angela Walker (Richard), Parmetta Davis (Vernon), twins, Donald and Ronald Jackson, LaVersa Jackson, Minister Shawn Matthews, and Breita Marie Gillard; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Gillard Clark; two brothers, William Henry Gillard and Elder Thomas Delroy Gillard (Joyce); one sister in- law, Dorothy Jackson Juster; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and many friends.
