Obituary

The life and spirit of ANNIE MARIE GAS KINS began on April 20, 1923 in Pantega, North Carolina in Craven County. She was born to Andrew Gaskins and Jennie Boomer. She entered into eternal rest on Saturday afternoon, May 11, 2013 at Franklin Square Hospital. She attended the public schools of Pantega, North Carolina. She went to nursing school and she served as a nurse for Johns Hopkins Hospital for thirty-three years. Alongside her nursing career, she also did private duty nursing for twenty-eight years. She also was Head of the Nurse's Guild at St. Luke's Church where she went to church until she became ill. She was a loving and devoted wife who loved to cook, clean, take pictures and smile. She enjoyed being with her husband, Robert L. Amason, Jr. and her step-children. She was a family oriented woman to her step-children and grandchildren. She was like a mother; she just didn't birth us. She leaves to mourn: a husband, Robert L. Amason, Jr.; three step-daughters, Vanessa Winchester, Wanda Reed and Tanya Thompson; two step-sons, Akil Fadail and Dana Amason; two step-sons-in-law, Shelley Winchester and Frank Thompson; an uncle, Biship Boomer; a first cousin, Mrs. Ruthie Brown of New York; a niece, Precious; and a host of grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, friends and loved ones.
