Born inClarendon County,May 5,1943, shewasa daughter ofthe late Mr.JamesH.Gibsonand Mrs.Chinese Witherspoon Gibson.She accept- edChristat anearlyage andattended Liberty Hill A.M.E Churchand wasa faithful member.
Annie received her educationinthe public schoolsinClarendonCounty,South Carolina.ShegraduatedfromScott's Branch High Schoolin 1961.After High school she movedto NewYorkandthentoBaltimore,Maryland where she metandmarried her husband, Richard PittsJr. and wasblessed withtwochildren.
She workedwithBaltimoreCityPublic Schoolsforover 30 years.Shefosteredmanychildrenfrom thedifferent schools where she worked.Sheenjoyed takingthem toparks, community events,andmost ofall tochurch.Shedeveloped afamily withher coworkersatschool #157. Laterduring retirementtheybecameknown asthe Kelson Rooters.
Whilelivingin the EdmondsonVillage Community, she attendandjoined Wildwood United MethodistChurch,whichhasbeen re-brandedasNew CovenantUnitedMethodistChurch. She was anactive member of the Trustee Board, Communion Steward, United Methodist Women Ministry, Harvest Fest Ministry, Church Play Ministry,andthe Hospitality Committee ( where she preparedmeals forcommittee meetings, bible study, and other church functions.) Her southern hospitality is suretobe missed. Shewas alsoa member of community organizations which includes the KelsonRooters,GoldDome Club,andLyndhurst/Allendale Senior Center.
Annie'sfondmemorieswillbe cherished by her husband Richard Pitts Jr., Daughter LindaS.Gibson, Fayetteville, NC; Son preceded by death Richard PittsIII,1 brotherLee(Janie) Gibson, Sister Gwendolyn Bellamy, 1 Aunt Celestine Jackson, Brother-in-law James (Alice) Pitts, Sister-in- laws DorothyMay(Major) Flowers, Lucille (Sonny) Pitts-Lesesne, Delo- res (Rentro) Carter, a host of nephews, nieces, and friendsandtwo specialfriendsMs.JoanWebb and Mrs.Connie Gee.
