Antwaun Lide,
Sr.
January 3, 1958 – November 18, 2016
Antwaun Donnell Lide Sr., born on January 3, 1958 to the late Donald T. Lide and Alsinda E. Gordon in Baltimore, Maryland. He was educated in the Baltimore Public Schools.
Antwaun gave his life to Christ at an early age and was raised along with his family in Gillis Memorial C C Church.
Antwaun loved his family and was loved by everyone he knew.
Antwaun D. Lide Sr., represented the Champion Karate Association of Balti- more, MD. Antwaun was a certified 9th Degree Black Belt Martial Arts Instruc- tor. He was a martial arts instructor for thirty five years and have several different skills and disciplines. Some of these and disciplines are Basic Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kick Boxing, Street Self Defense, and Basic Exercise Classes; and disci- plines such as Health and Fitness, Self Confidence Building, and Self Awareness Classes. Antwaun taught these skills for several facilities throughout Baltimore. He won numerous awards throughout the years including the Grand Champion- ship at the International Black Belt Hall of Fame Championship.
Antwaun motivated and encouraged young children, teenagers, and adults to be positive and productive citizens through the discipline of Martial Arts.
Antwaun also excelled as a visual artist and arts and crafts instructor. He sold art professionally and participated in a variety of shows and events throughout the state. In the Saint Joseph Community he organized the annual One of a Kind Arts and Crafts Festival for which he received a resolution from the City Council of Baltimore.
Antwaun was a positive role model and mentor inside and outside of the commu- nity for over 30 years. He enjoyed building the youth and firmly believed in preparing the child spiritually and physically with compassion and love for the future of his and her fellow man.
Antwaun was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Lide and stepsister, Donnetta Lide.
He leaves to mourn: a devoted mother, Alsinda Lide; one son, Antwaun Lide Jr.(an Air Traffic Controller for the United States Navy in Norfolk, V A); one great nephew, Ethan Lide; six aunts, Juanita Howard, Gertrude Ledbetter, Delma Lide, Madaline Franklin and Victoria Hunt; one god sister, Pamela Stanton; one god daughter, Shelby Ward; two best friends, Mark Chappel, Clifford Ward,
Tracie Ward and a host of relatives and friends..
