Obituary



Arlene Victoria Johnson, daughter of the late George and

Martha Riley, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on January 29,

1932. She departed this life on March 31,2019.



Arlene received her education in the Baltimore City Public

School Systems and graduated from Frederick Douglas High

School. She went on to work many years for printing

companies in Baltimore.



She married Herbert Johnson, Sr. who preceded her in death

in November 1993.



Arlene enjoyed spending time with friends. They formed The

Pearls of Blackness, a club that hosted social events during the

year. She also enjoyed listening to music and cooking. Her

sweet potato pies were truly the best. On Sunday mornings

while cooking dinner, she would listen to Pauline Wells Lewis

and Mary Clayburn on the radio. Although Arlene received

Christ later in life, she liked to watch Fred Price and attending

the church services held in her senior apartment building.



Those preceding her in death, two sons Jeffrey Taylor and

Herbert Johnson, Jr., her only sibling, sister Marian Robb, and

son-in-law, Donnie Alston.



Arlene leaves to mourn: five daughters, Catherine Vaughn,

Roslyn Taylor, Cheryl Hair, Katina Johnson and Marian

Alston; six grandchildren, Cedric Alston, Dominique Alston,

Joshua Brewer, Jovon Brewer, Trina Brewer and James

Douglas; one niece Lynette Todd and one great niece Melissa

Todd; and the First Cousins' Crew, Carolyn Brown, Ronald,

Steven and Gary Stubbs, April Haines and Mamie Willis; and



l host of other relatives and friends.
