ARLENE DORETHA JONES, daughter of the late John W. Wise and Ethel M. Brown, was born on February 27, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on May 11, 2015. Arlene was the youngest of her mother's eleven children and received her education in Baltimore City schools. As a young girl, she always loved caring for animals, like cats and dogs. She also loved children, so it was no surprise to anyone when she received her certification as a Child care Provider. At The John Hopkins Hospital, she cared for and nurtured countless children over many years until her retirement. In 1982, she married Freeman Earl Jones. Together they had six children, Freeman [r, their first set of twins, Ethel and Kenneth, Maurice, and their second set of twins, Manuel and Danielle. Mrs. Arlene Jones was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She was a beautiful woman with a warm and loving spirit. She embraced others as if they were an extension of her family, and did so simply because she loved people. Many even looked to her as a second mother. Arlene also loved to cook and was especially known for the large meals she would prepare, and the cookouts she would throw, all with the intent of nourishing and bringing together the people she loved most. Later in life, health complications related to diabetes would cause Arlene to undergo amputation of both legs. Something so difficult can sometimes challenge faith and weaken one's spirit, but Arlene was determined to live a full and happy life and remained strong in her faith until she took her last breath. Arlene is preceded in death by one sister, Jacqueline Wise, and seven brothers, Johnny and Kenneth Wise, Gordon and Marvin Brooks, and Clayton, Larry, and Oliver Duke Brown. She leaves to treasure her memory: her husband of thirty-three years, six children and their spouses, twelve grandchildren, her sisters, Muriel Tucker-Cartes and Ethel Mae Walker; two brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Arlene Jones was well loved and touched the lives of many, and as such, her legacy of love will live on forever. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
