Arnita Smith, daughter of the late Regina F. Peterson and Armstead
Peterson was born, January 18,1923 in Merrifield, VA. She departed this
life on March 3, 2018 peacefully. Amita was the only daughter with one
brother Joseph Peterson whom proceeded her in death.

She received her education in the Virginia Public School System. In her
younger years she moved to Baltimore, MD with family. Amita worked
numerous jobs in both Maryland and Virginia. She decided to make
Baltimore her home, at some point she met and married the late Edgar
Smith Sr. From this union three children were born, Hope, Edgar Smith Jr.
(Butch) and Regina whom both proceeded her in death. Amita always had
a caring heart by taking in people and babysitting. She was always there to
lend a helping hand.

Arnita loved reading her newspaper, drinking coffee, listening to baseball
or music on her radio, gardening vegetables and sewing were her favorite
hobbies.

Arnita was recovering from illness at Future Care since May 2013. She was
then sent to Sinai Seasons Hospice Care on March 1, 2018, where she
peacefully transitioned on March 3, 2018.

She leaves to mourn: daughter, Hope Smith-Gibson; granddaughters,
Sheanera Smith (preceded in death) and Quantia Gibson-Jones; grandson,
Kevon Powell of Florida; great granddaughter, Shakira Commodore;
great grandsons, Greg Commodore, Takiel Gibson and Jediakiah Watkins
(Jay); sister-in-law, Naomi Smith; brother-in-law, Melvin Smith and a host
of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
