Arnold
Palmer
October 8, 1956 – April 18, 2022
Arnold Palmer departed this lite unexpectedly on April 18, 2022. He was
bom on October 8, 1956, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late James and
Marie v. Palmer. He was a member the cross country track team, and
baseball, basketball teams. Arnold was a highly respected athlete at
Edmondson High School. He was well known as and the varsity team
during his junior and senior years. He was such an essential and driving
part of the basketball team during that time that his teammates nicknamed
him "Snake" because of his slinky superior moves and ability to score the
winning points.
Arold worked at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education for 40
years in the Shipping and Receiving Department until his retirement in
2019.
Arnold was very close to his big sister (the late Virginia Simmons). He was
an essential caregiver to her young children and his other nieces and
nephews. At an early age, he watched over them and remained an
inspirational influence to them until his passing.
Arnold loved to dance and enjoyed being the life of the party. He loved
seeing others laughing and being happy. On the sensitive side he was just
as eager to be helpful and supportive when he saw others in need. He was
also an avid sports fan especially for "his" Baltimore Ravens. There was
never a dull moment watching the Ravens' games with Arnold
Arnold is survived by his wite Melinda (Porte) Palmer; his children:
Crystal, Marie and Jani Palmer; his son: Arnold Queen Palmer; 6
grandchildren; his brother-in-law: Sampson C. Simpson, Sr.; his sister-in-
law Netricia Godfrey(John); his aunt-in-law: Cynthia Finch (Anthony);
nieces: Maria Simmons-Harrison and Veronica Simmons; nephews:
Sampson C. Simmons, Jr. and Eric Simmons; and a host of other extended
family, friends and loved ones. Arnold was preceded in death by his
parents: James and Marie V. Palmer, and his sister, Virginia M. Simmons.
