Obituary

On the morning of December 6, 2007, Arto Cox was called home to be with the Lord. Arto, was born on January 29, 1919 in Wintersville,, North carolinia, to the late Clennie aned Isabel Cox-Carney. He was the eldest of fourteen children. He received his education at Pitt County Public School. He served in the Army from 1941 through 1945. His tour of duty included the European Campaign, during World War II. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. Arto was an employee of City Hospital for a brief period of time. Thereafter, he was employed by Glenn L. Martin for several years. He retired from Faulkner Foreign Automoble Sales. He was a former member of Mt. Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. Arto was united in holy matrimony to the late Sarah Hill Cox. He leaves to mourn; one son; Johnnie Cox Bonnie; three grandchildren of Florida; seven sisters, Annie Ruth Powell of Richmond, Virginia, Helen Garris of Baltimore, Maryland, Mary Louise Ross of Cincinnati, Ohio, Thelma Garris of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Myrtle Perkins of Baltimore, Maryland, Wilheminia Bennett Herman of Brooklyn, New York, Doris Harris of Wilson, Norht Carlina, two brothers Clennie Cox Jr. Audrey and Bennie Cox of Baltimore, Maryland; a host of other relatives and friends.
