Obituary

On the blessed day of June 8, 1932, Audrey E. Folkes was born to ethe late Mary W. Johnson and Andrew Folkes Jr. After a lenghty illness she succumbed to death on September 16, 2006. Audrey was a loving and giving person, but if you crossed her wrong, then you had something to deal with. Basically she was q loving and giving person. Audrey was born at 915 Leadenhall Street in South Baltimore. She attended school at St. Monica Catholic School then she went to Carver vocational Tech. for dressmaking, taylor and design. She had to put that on the back burner so she could help her family. She worked at Shoefer's Furniture in South Baltimore and then odd jobs. She met Booker Byrant and had a daughter, Sharon Folkes, Audrey had a full life, and she moved to Cherry Hill where she met other friends. Most of them are gone now but she will meet them again. She started working for Dr. and Mrs. John C. Norton of Catonsville, where she eas employed for forty-seven years or really until her health started to fail her. but she kept on going. She did other things after retirement, she started going on little trips to different places just to get out of the house, shopping trips and gambling trips where she enjoyed herself, because she was basically a homebody. Home and work, but, but all in all she had freat joy. When her grandchildren were born, especiall her first, Letitia, she loved all of them and did all she could for them. She had great joy seeing her nieces and nieces, especially two devoted ones, James turner and Cheryl Edwards. She loved all of them. She leaves to mourn: her daughter, Sharon Folkes; three grandchildren, Letitia Kell, Aaron and Erik Nedd; two great-grandchildren, Leonard Howard Jr. and Dana Henley; a devoted nephew, James Turner; a devoted niece, Cheryl Edwards; also another devoted nephews Andre folkes. She also had a whole host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and sister-in-law, Claretha Folkes McAllister. She will really be missed by all of us. May she rest in peace.
