Audrey 'Sis' Wardlaw was born on September 10, 1919 in Baltimore, MD to the late John and Nellie Marine. She was the second oldest of five siblings and the last living. On Saturday, November 30,2013, she had a private appointment with God and He called her home to glory. She lived a long and wonderful life. Sis grew up in Baltimore, MD and attended school in the Baltimore City Public School System. She worked in the Baltimore City Public School cafeteria from 1963 until her retirement in June 1982. In 1939, Sis married Curtis Wardlaw, Sr. and raised six children together. He preceded her in death in 1988. They were married for 50 years. As a young girl she attended Ebenezer AME located on Montgomery Street in Baltimore. She had been a dedicated member of Mt. Mariah since 1949. She sang on the WJL Green Gospel Choir and the Women's Choir. She was also a member of the Queen Esther Club at Mt. Mariah and the Adult Sunday School Class #3. Sis was a member of the 20/20 Golden Age Club, the Cherry Hill Lunch Bunch, and Arthur Creigler Golden Age Club. She enjoyed traveling and playing bingo. She loved and adored her family, especially playing Phase 10 and Po-Ke-No with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite restaurant to dine with family and friends was the Double T Diner (Route 40 West). All family gatherings were special to her and she was loved by all who knew her. Her heart was always open and her ears always ready to listen. Jesus was the center of her joy and she always had a prayer of encouragement for a family member or friend. Sis leaves to cherish her memories, only daughter-Frances Richardson (Calvin); three sons-Curtis Wardlaw, Jr. (Sharon) of Temple Hills, MD, Everette Wardlaw, and Gary Wardlaw (Mary) of Baltimore, MD; 31 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Charles Green; two sister-in-laws, Martha Marine of Hanover, MD and Constance Wise of Providence, RI; 12 nieces, 6 nephews; her Church family; a host of cousins and friends, especially her lifetime best friend- Geraldine Boyce of Baltimore, MD. Those that preceded her in death: Two sisters, Dorethea 'Dimples' Bond and Pearl Green; two brothers, John and Ruben Marine; son and daughter-in-law. Bernard and Mamie Marine; son, Allen Wardlaw; one granddaughter, Angela 'Poochie' Wardlaw and one great granddaughter, Cierra Stokes; two brother-in- laws, Charles Bond and Ronald Holloman; and lifetime best friend, Carrie Ward.
