IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Avon L.
Newman, Sr.
February 11, 1948 – July 3, 2018
Avon Linwood Newman, Sr.,
beloved son of the late
Linwood Arthur Newman Jr. and Elizabeth Newman
was born on February 11, 1948 in Baltimore, Maryland.
He departed this life on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 suddenly.
Avon attended Baltimore City Schools. As a young man Avon
met Victoria Evans and they soon married. Out of this union
two sons were born, Avon Linwood Newman, Jr. (pre-deceased)
and David Anthony Newman.
Avon made his living working with several companies, but his
passion and God given talent always led him to the home
improvement aspect of his career. Avon was amazingly good at
his trade despite not having any formal training.
In May of 1984, Avon while helping his brother cut down a tree
for a neighbor, fell and suffered irreversible brain damage. He
couldn't continue his work, but with the help of his devoted
brother-in-law, Thomas(Tommy)Jones, for 34 years
he was able to function well, despite his affliction.
In January, 2013, it was necessary to have Avon confined to a
nursing home because of dementia. This move didn't stop
Avon from being the warm, charismatic, witty and likeable
person he always was.
He had several names people called him like, the Mayor of Whitelock,
Buzz Boy and Uncle A. Avon was well loved by everyone he met.
He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior and loved going to church.
He will be sorely missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one son, David Anthony
Newman, Sr.;four granddaughters, Allisha Shante Newman,
Marrissa Kendall, Veronica Roberson, Dineisha (Moosey) Newman;
