Barbara Ann Edwards
was known to family and friends as "Momma
or Ma-Ma". She was the daughter of the late Clifford Edwards and Pearl
Garland. Ma-Ma was born in Hagerstown, Maryland living out most of her
days in parts of East and West Baltimore.
Ma Ma was a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School and a Medical
Assistant at Garwyn Medical Center. She then became a Lab Technician at
Baltimore City Health Department before becoming a caregiver and busi-
ness owner.
Preceding Ma-Ma in death are her two sons, David Edwards and Kirk
Edwards. Leaving behind her daughters, Celeste Edwards and Christine
Edwards-Williams; her brother, Roger Garland; two sons-in-laws, Wiley
"Coy" Williams and Larry Vaughn, as well as a host of cousins, nieces,
family and friends.
Ma-Ma was a charismatic, strong, outspoken personality who thrived and
progressed being a Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother,
Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. Throughout her 79 years on earth she
helped raise her seven grandchildren (Damon Edwards, Andre Edwards,
Dontae Edwards, David Edwards, Darron Edwards, Derrell Edwards, An-
toine Vaughn and niece, Jasmine Garland ); creating a space and environ-
ment in her home for her grandchildren to prosper eventually becoming
fathers, high school, and college graduates. Ma-Ma was beloved in Broad-
way East community, and finished her life fighting, laughing, and speaking
her mind. She will truly be missed by those that knew her.
