Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of BARBARA ELIZABETH DORSEY, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who left us peacefully in Annapolis, Maryland on October 1, 2025, with her daughter at her bedside. Born March 12, 1952 in Gambrills, Maryland, Barbara was a pillar of strength and love in her family and community, leaving behind a legacy that will live on through the many lives she touched.

Barbara's early education took place within the Anne Arundel County Public School System, a foundation that fostered her lifelong love of learning and caring for others. Her career began within the public school systems. Later, she extended her compassion to others by working as a nurse assistant at Knollwood Manor Nursing home, demonstrating her commitment to care- giving.

After her time at Knollwood, Barbara transitioned to Advanced Marketing, where she worked as a warehouse associate. However, her true passion lay in home health care, which she pursued with great dedication at Benevolent Home Health Care. Her career was put on hold as she faithfully took care of her ailing sisters and mother, exemplifying the love and sacrifice that defined her life.

Outside of her work and family obligations, Barbara found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed listening to music and engaging in games on her phone, moments that brought her happiness and relaxation amidst her busy life.

Barbara Dorsey will be remembered not only for her unwavering devotion to her family bur also for her selflessness and the warmth she brought to all who knew her. She was a true warrior, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire us all. Thank you, Barbara, for your endless love and support; you will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Barbara was preceded in death by her cherished son Carlos Omar Brown Sr., bonus son Todd Thomas, and her siblings James Edward Dorsey, i Marty Dorsey Hale, Merrill Buddy Dorsey Jr., Cynthia Virginia Dorsey- Ford and Charles Sylvester Dorsey. She is also reunited in spirit with her loving parents Merrill Buddy Dorsey Sr. and Harriet Lavenia Eldridge-Lee. Despite the profound loss of her immediate family, Barbara's spirit remains alive through the lives she influenced.

She is survived by her devoted children, Charles Richard Bull Jr. and Sherin-Denise Marie McDonald, who carry forward her legacy of love and compassion. Barbara was a proud grandmother to S'ymirria Denise Jones, Carlos Omar Brown Jr. and Breanna Carla Melissa Brown. She took immense joy in the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Mackenzie LaRae Jones, Carlos Omar Brown III (Fatty), Karter James Jones, Gavin Omar Brown, Nova Brown, Kamila Joi Thomas and Jeremiah Brown. Each of them held a special place in her heart and were a source of joy and pride throughout her life,. She also leaves her siblings Melvin E. Dorsey Sr. and Bernard Dorsey Sr., and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
