On February 12, 1958, a baby girl was born to the union

of John Edward Mitchell and Mary M. Mitchell. She

departed this life on June 4, 2019, after a lengthy illness.

Barbara received her education in Baltimore Public

Schools. She held several jobs in housekeeping; she also

worked for Genesis Nursing Home, where she held

several positions.

Barbara loved reading novels and enjoyed watching classic movies. She

like to take long walks, Barbara loved spending time with her family

and friends throughout her life span. She especially, enjoyed spending

time with her grandkids. Most of all, she loved carmel sundae ice cream.

Barbara had a "winning" smile.

She preceded in death by her parents, John E. Mitchell and Mary

Mitchell; two sisters, Beverly and Elizabeth; one brother, Milton.

Barbara leaves to celebrate her life and cherish wonderful memories,

her three children, Edward Stokes, Jr., Julius Stokes, Sr. and Courtney

Smith; Seven grandchildren, Julius Smith, Davon Turner, Damarcus

Smith, Donte Stokes, Katie Smith, Skylar Stokes, Gia Stokes; nephew

Anthony Chamber, Sr (Shorty) and Anthony Chambers, Jr.; six sib-

lings, Catherine Cole (Bernard), Theresa Mitchell, Rose Coats, Ignatius

Mitchell (Eartha), Francis Mitchell, and Wilbert Mitchell. A longtime

partner and friend, Booker Curbeam, Jr. one dedicated sister by faith,

Shirley, a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and relatives.
