November 2, 1944 – March 6, 2020
Barbara Shelton was the daughter of Ethel Strother and Otis R.
Covington. She was born November 2, 1944 in Baltimore Maryland. She was
faithful women of God affectionately known as "Sugie", her life long nickname.
She was granted her wings on March 6, 2020. Her final days were spent with
friends and family that she touched throughout her journey in life.
Barbara received her education in Baltimore City Public Schools. She was married
very young to Thomas Shelton and from this union two children were born.
After high school she gained employment as a physical Therapist at Central
Medical Center where she worked for 29 years. Later Barbara moved to the
Whitelock Community with her two children and made a career change to the
"Hecht Company." where she worked for many until they transitioned to "Macy's.
She was also a member of the "CC Social Club" Est., 1975. She made lots of
friends wherever she went and loved to party on the weekends with her sister
Priscilla also known as Aunt Dean. She loved Sunday dinner after church at Moms
house; spending time with her family was important. There was never a dull
moment when she was around.
She was always a very giving person, and will be missed by everyone who knew
her.
Barbara is preceded in the death by both of her parents, her life long companion,
David Morris; one brother Harold Strother, three sisters, Priscilla Malone, Ruth
Singleton, & Lillian Singleton. Barbara leaves to move her legacy forward: her son
Tommy D. Shelton, her daughter Denise Shelton Morton, God Daughter Mrs.
Tonya Fellows, Grandchildren Dwayne Morton, Tomeca Morton, Myisha Morton,
& Kendra Gause. Fourteen Great grand children, and a host nieces, nephews, &
friends.
