Barbara Maria Spedden, affectionately known as "Twiggy" to her family, was the first daughter born to the late Stanley and Delores Dennis on July 3, 1953 in Baltimore, MD. Sadly, Barbara was granted her angel wings on January 31, 2021 after a lengthy illness.

Barbara was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. Barbara was a compassionate spirit whose passion was caring for others. She found joy in providing daycare for numerous children within the family over the years. Family was important to Barbara and she was the glue that held them together. She attended every family function where her big personality radiated. Her smile was infectious to everyone who encountered her.

Throughout her life, Barbara was a mother, friend, protector, she was open-minded and optimistic no matter what the situation. She was known to send her morning text to let you know that she loved you and whenever someone needed help, her door was always open. Barbara enjoyed family, music, dancing, good food, and playing games on her phone. In her leisure time Barbara enjoyed watching her favorite television shows and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending summers in Georgia with her daughter-in-law. Barbara was easy going, but strict with the children she raised. She would put them in the corner and then give them hugs and kisses when they got out. Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 – "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you".

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Michael Spedden, both her sons John and Kevin Burnham, and one sister Yvette Spencer (Hill).

She is survived by her daughter, Latanya Spedden; one sister, Kimberly Lynch (Hill); two brothers, Edward and Juan Lyles; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
