Benita Grier Anthony, age 64 of Baltimore, MD died Tuesday, November 8, 2011 after a long battle against diatetes. Benita was born in North Rose, NY. on August 16, 1947, to Mae Oler and Galvester Grier. She grew up in Clyde, NY and graduated from Clyde-Savannah High School in 1968. She then moved to Maryland and became the first African-American hairdresser at Hutzler's Department store in downtown Baltimore. Benita later owned and operated her own hair salon Optionsin downtown Baltimore for many years. She was an avid traveler and especially loved to spend time in the Caribbean Islands with her friends and family. She will be best remembered for her fun loving nature and her amazing sense of imagination. Benita is predeased by her husband, Vinnie Anthony and father, Galvester. She is survived by her mother, Mae Oler, her sisters, Barbara, Betty and Linda; her brothers, Lee, David, Bob, and John; as well as many other countless cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
