Benjamin T.
Cornish
August 7, 1955 – July 25, 2019
Benjamin "Ben" Cornish was born March 7, 1955, to the late Robert
Francis and Lottie Mae Cornish. He departed this earth peacefully on
July 25,2019, after a brief illness.
Ben attended Baltimore City Public School and graduated from Edmond-
son High School in 1973. His interest was Vocational Technology. He
completed his certification in welding, shipfitter and blueprint reading
from AIRCO Technology in 1976.
Ben was employed by Baltimore Gas and Electric Company as a Con-
struction Worker for two years. He then was employed as a Meter
Reader for twenty years until his health caused him to retire. He worked
for Domino's Pizza in Production and Sanitation. As well as six years at
Ashland Head Start as a custodian. His last place of employment was
with Baltimore City Public Schools at Margaret Brent School as the
custodian until he had to retire after five years of service due to health
reasons. He was well loved by the kids.
He married Beverly Wood on July 22, 1989. He had three children, two
sons Naquan Woodard Sr, Tyrone Cornish (preceded him in death) and
one daughter, Sharife Cornish.
He formerly attended First Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church under the
leadership of Rev. Oscar E. Brown and was baptized there. He was also
a member of Waverly Methodist Church.
Ben was passionate about sports. He played on BG&E basketball team
the Rivals where they won many championships. He played softball on
the WWIN Radio Station Team. He loved watching sports, Westerns,
police dramas and TV Land black & white shows. Ben loved meeting
people, joking, and as he would say, "up to my shenanigans."
Ben leaves behind his wife, Beverly, one son, Naquan Woodard Sr
(Sherry Woodard), and his daughter Sharife Cornish. Sisters Geraldine
Jackson, Beulah Cornish, and one brother, Trent Cornish Sr. His son
Tyrone Cornish, sister Ruth Love, brothers Charles Cornish, Rudolph
Cornish and Richard Cornish preceded him in death. Brother in law
Alvin Jackson Sr, sister in law, Brenda Cornish. Grandchildren: Naquan
Woodard Jr, Juquan Woodard, Qyrhan Woodard, Keshaun Woodard,
Tanasja Cornish and Jakiel Cornish, and a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends. .
