Berdella Brown Reid was born on September 28, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the sixth of nine children born to the late James and Marylou Murray Brown. On August 1, 2013 our Lord and Savior summoned an angel to escort our precious rose to her heavenly home. She received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System. Upon completion of high school, Berdella worked for the Regal Empire Laundry for five years as a presser. Seeking a change, she later worked for the Lord Baltimore Hotel for an additional five years. Berdella was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of Leadenhall Baptist Church. She later joined the Moorish Science Temple of America #13. She married Gary Reid Sr. on December 6, 1987. She was the proud mother of one son, Trenton Brown Bey. She loved children and adored her four grandchildren and great grandson. Bert, as she was affectionately called was a strong and independent woman whose humble spirit impacted the lives of all who came in contact with her. After 85 years of life, she was grateful for each new day of blessings. She treasured the visits and the times when she was able to be with the family for holidays and special occasions. We will miss her loving and caring spirit. Berdella joins her siblings who preceded her in death; Brothers, James Brown, Richard Brown, and Lawrence Brown; Sisters, Mildred Aldridge and Hilda Singleton. She leaves to cherish her wonderful memories; Devoted Son, Trenton Brown Bey; Loving Daughter-in-law, Ella Brown Bey; Sisters, Eva (Charles) Miller, Lillian Julia Taylor, and Ruth Davis; Grandchildren, Nichelle Taylor, Michelle Taylor, Maurice Antonio Cole, and Linda Murphy; Great grandson Trenton Christopher Bey and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
