Bernette Deshond Smith, born August 27, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland, peacefully departed this life on October 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of family, especially her children.

Bernette earned her education in the Baltimore school system, and later earned her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. She dedicated her career to the lives of countless patients, where her gentle spirit and compassion touched many. Those she cared for often said that, Bernette had a way of making feel seen, and valued, - qualities that defined her not only in her work, but in every part of her life.

As a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church, Bernette found joy and peace in her faith and her community. She carried that faith with her through every challenge, showing remarkable strength and a never-give-up spirit that inspired everyone who knew her - especially throughout her illness.

Bernette's greatest pride was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her children Ricky Smith, Chante' Langford-Williams, and her husband Antwan Williams. Her cherished grandchildren Justin McLee Sr., Kairen Gorden-Bey, Kamauri Gorden-Bey: her great-grandchildren Justin McLee Jr. and Aamori Price; her siblings Ronald Stewart Sr., Labrenia Parker, and Shawn Parker; her bonus father John Parker. As well as a whole host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She will also be fondly remembered by her cousin-sisters Karen Smith and Lisa Broomfield, and also her cousin Michelle Rivers.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother Mary Louise Parker and her father Bernard Smith.

Bernette's warmth, resilience, and faith will be forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her. Her light will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
