Obituary

Our Beloved Pastor Bernice Bishop was born on July 2, 1960. On Sunday morning April 19, 2020 she went home to be with her Lord & Savior after a lengthy illness. She fought a hard fight and she was a good and faithful servant.



Bernice was raised and grew up in Baltimore City where she received her education. She furthered her education at Baltimore City Community College. Bernice accepted JesusChrist as her personal Savior at the young age of 17. Her call to ministry was her passion and it fueled her ambition to help others. She met and married James Bishop (precededher in death) and they were married for over 20 years. She was an assistant Pastor at Dynamic Deliverance Cathedral where she played an integral role in insurmountable ministries. Pastor Bishop loved serving God and she ministered to any and everyone who would listen. Her dream and her passions were fueled by her love to feed as many hungry women and their families throughout Baltimore City. She believed with God all things were possible, and through faith, prayer, and support she could make a differenceintherevitalization of the community by reuniting families.



Pastor Bernice Bishop was the founder and CEOofWomen Empowering Women Ministries Inc., (WEW) non-profit organization located in the East Baltimore areainthe city. It was organized and establishedin2005. The mission for her organization was dedicated to uplifting the community through a holistic approach. Bernice motivated,encouraged and sacrificed change through her developed ministries, programs andpartnerships to enrich her community. The visionofWEW is to bring restorationto women and their family who has been through physical, mental, substance abuse, and spiritual turmoil. Her food pantry launched hunger relief to various communities. Our beloved Pastor Bishop was a blessing to the BodyofChrist and she was the heart of hercommunity. God used her greatly for his people and his Glory.



Bernice Bishop's favorite past times was spending time with her siblings, family andfriends. She loved family gatherings and organizing events. She also enjoyed sharingintheaccomplishments of her daughter, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.



She leaves to cherish in her legacy her loving daughter Lakesha Kelly, her beloved mother Shirley Alston, her father Bumest Alston (Carolyn) and her life-long best friend and the father of her daughter William Eley. Ten siblings: Shirl Harrison, Gregory Braxton (Etta), Gloriadean Braxton, Cornelia Braxton, Teresa Sharp, Spencer Alston, Mildred Alston (Ronnie),Kelley Alston, Kim Alston & Krissy Alston. Her adorableand lovely grandchildren Nizam Roach & Shakira Bailey and her daughter-in-law Apria Roach, and her great grand-children Nazir & Naseem Roach. Her loving best friend Doris Braxton and her Goddaughter Dasha Dorsey. She is also survived by a host of nieces,nephews, family and friends. She was met by her loving nephew as she entered into the pearly gates.
