BERTHA BEATRICE SWANSON, the daughter of the late Rose Bell Conway and Harry Conway was born on February 24, 1911 in Lancaster County, Virginia. She peacefully departed this life on February 10, 2013. Bertha received her education in the public schools of Virginia. She accepted the Lord at a very early age. She attended both nursing and cosmetology schools and worked many years as a private duty nursing aide. She was a long time member of the Macedonia Baptist Church serving on the Flower Circle. Over the years, Bertha received recognition for her church work and her work in the community. She supported many charitable foundations. She also was a long term member of the Guiding Star Court No. 49, O.O.C. Knights of Pythias; Jerusalem Court No. 1, Daughters of Isis; Worthy Matron of Maggie C. Upshur No. 53, Order of the Eastern Star; and Queen Esther No. 1, Order of the Golden Circle. She married the late Eugene Swanson. They were married for over thirty-five years. She loved to read, sing, travel, and perform work in the church and participate in the Eastern Star. Her sweet, kind and gentle spirit will always be remembered and forever be in our hearts. Bertha is survived by a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Weep Not... Weep Not She is not dead, She is resting in the bosom of Jesus.
