Bertha Neva Watkins was born on July 6, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert and Elizabeth Johnson Sr. Bertha was the youngest of four children. She and her brothers and sister were educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. On August 9, 1949 she married Earl Watkins. This union produced four children, Earline, Earl Jr., Deborah and Gregory. In 1954 the family moved to 2217 Koko Lane where Bertha lived for almost 60 years. Bertha worked various jobs during her lifetime to help support her family. She loved working in retail; always with a smile she made many friends while working at Stewart's, Epstein's and Value City. Her hobbies included travelling, crocheting, baking, doing crossword puzzles and talking on the telephone. She enjoyed collecting salt and pepper shakers from everywhere. Bertha loved to dance and all of her friends and family enjoyed watching her dance. She always made time for friends. On Thursday, November 21, 2013, Bertha was called home. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Johnson Sr. and Elizabeth Johnson, husband Earl Watkins Sr., son Gregory Watkins, brother Robert Johnson Jr. and sister Ida Belle Covert. Bertha leaves to cherish her memory her brother James Johnson, three loving children, Earline Brooks, Earl Watkins, Jr. and Deborah Payton; son-in-law Isaac C. Brooks Jr., daughter-in-law Evonne Watkins, five granddaughters - Tanyaneka Lipscomb, Lisa M. Brown, LaShawn Watkins, Erika N. Pinson and Denia L. Payton; two grandson-in-laws Hezekiah Brown III and DuPree M. Pinson; seven great grandchildren Brooke L. Shird, Nigel Brown , India Scott, Hezekiah Brown IV, Kendall N. Brown, Isuan D. Watkins, Gabrielle M. Anderson, Aunt, Elsie Hackett along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Viewing Joseph H.
