Bertina Thomas Lewis, daughter of the late Horace and Grace
Thomas, was born October
8, 1933
in Baltimore, Maryland

Bertina quietly departed this life December
18,
2018.
Bertina was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System
and later attended Community College of Baltimore. She had a
strong desire to continue her education and enrolled in Sojourner
Douglas College. In December 2000 Bertina graduated and received
an associate degree from Family Bible Institute College
&
Seminary
/
School of Counseling.
Bertina met and married Isaiah Lewis July
18,1962
from this union
came six children Gwendolyn, Carolyn, Debra, Donna and preceded
in death Reginald and Rodney.
Bertina worked for the Baltimore City Health Department as a
Community Health Nursing Aide and Geriatic Aide until her
retirement in
1995.
Receiving several awards and recognized
as the first non-professional or industry involved Urban League
Board Member.
Bertina was a loving and devoted mother and always dedicated
to helping others. She was always actively involved in her children
and grandchildren academic and recreational activity.
She was a faithful and long term member of Christian Temple Faith
Church now known as Zion Deliverance Center where she was a
devoted and committed Christian always willing to serve on the
Usher Board, Choir, Women of Zion, and Ministered to many with
a cheerful heart until her health did not permit her. Bertina has
been described as a example of "Finer Womanhood in Action"
.
She was a proud mother who served as a mother figure to many
other children within her family. Bertina was quite
,
pleasant, gentle
mannered, patient, respected by many and loved by all who knew her.
She was a person for which God and Family came first. Bertina lived
a full life and enjoyed many good times with family and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her
