Obituary

Bertina Marie Martin "Tina" was born October 6, 1969, in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Dr. Elmer P. Martin and the late Annie White Martin. She had one sibling, Lisa Ann Martin, whom she totally adored. Lisa preceded her in death December 2020. Tina was a caregiver for her up until Lisa's passing.

Tina spent most of her younger years being raised by her grandmother. She often shared fond memories of times at her grandmother's house with Lisa and her cousin, Willie who was like a brother to her. Tina received her education from the St. Louis public education system.

She came to Baltimore to live with her father and stepmother after high school. Once in Baltimore, she started working at the Burger King fast food franchise, where she shortly worked her way up to manager. After some years, she desired a career change in law enforcement. She started her journey as a Correctional Officer at the Maryland Correctional Institute in Jessup MCIJ. After some years, she moved along to the Baltimore City Detention Center where she retired at the rank of Captain in 2012. She returned to school shortly after, earing both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in criminal justice. Sometime after her sister's passing, she decided to return to the workforce working part-time as a Customer Service Agent/Trainer for Alaska Airlines at BWI airport.

Tina met and married Kevin Wilson May I, 1999. From this union, they had two beautiful children, Brittnae' Nicole and Kevin Brandon. Although they later divorced, they still remained friends. Tina loved and adored her grandchildren. She looked forward to spending time with them every weekend. She was really looking forward to the arrival of her newest grandson later this month. Tina was a feisty firecracker, but she loved hard. She had an extremely generous spirit and never hesitated to help anyone in need.

Tina loved to read, especially books by Mary Monroe, Bebe Moore Campbell, and Carl Weber. She loved music, especially anything by Michael Jackson! Tina enjoyed watching the local and world news and kept abreast of all current events...especially polities. In her spare time, she loved to watch crime investigation shows such as The First 48, For My Man, and Fatal Attraction, to name a few. She enjoyed shopping, going to the beach, and Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday. She had a love for jewelry, unique purses, and perfume.

After a brief illness, Tina made her peaceful transition into her heavenly home on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Gilchrist Hospice with family by her side. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her two beautiful children, Brittnaé Wilson (Damal) and Kevin Wilson; three grandchildren, Kevin "Liam", Cadence, and Breon (arriving soon); her uncle Willie White (Ann); her cousin, Willie White; her stepmother, Dr. Joanne M. Martin; her aunt Floretta; her godchildren, Lynnea Garrison and David Becketts; her ex-husband, Kevin Wilson; her cousin/partner-in-crime, Renada "Pumpkin" Gilliard; and a host of relatives and friends.
