Bettey Jane Hood-Jones, daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Hood, was born on December 21, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on October 12, 2011. Bettey graduated from Western High School in Baltimore in 1961. She continued her education at the Community College of Baltimore where she studied nursing. Bettey worked at the University of Maryland Hospital for over 30 years, starting as a Unit Clerk and retiring as a Unit Coordinator. She was married to the late George Jones, and out of this union two sons were born, Jonathan and Brian. Bettey made numerious friends wherever she went and will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her. She was always devoted to her family and friends. She leaves to mourn: two sons and their wives, Jonathan and Lisa Jones, Brian and Helen Jones; three grandchildren, Darius, Brandon and Sydney; one sister, Shirley Hood; one brother and his wife, Joseph and Josephine Hood; an aunt, Mamie Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends, She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Hood.
