Coates
March 21, 1941 – December 23, 2018
Betsy Jane Smith and the late Walter Lewis. She
was also proceeded in death by her husband Joseph
Emmanuel Coates, stepfather Joseph Smith, and
brothers Jerry Henry Pender and Walter Lewis Jr.
On December 23, 2018, God in his infinite wisdom,
suddenly granted Betty her peace and ended her
journey her on earth. Betty confessed her life to Christ
at St. Peter Clever Catholic Church. Throughout the
years, she never wavered in her faith.

affectionately known as Nookie or Na Na, received her
education in Baltimore Public School System. Better worked at the
Maryland General Hospital where she retired after 35 years of Service.
Betty was considered as a dedicated and hard-working employee. He
believed one should work for what they wanted in life and he installed
these values in his family and young people he encountered. Family
was always important to her; she believed in family unity and
togethers.

hobbies included sewing, gardening, and attending family
gatherings and celebrations.

leaves to cherish her memory: three children Betty Wright
(Ralph, son-law), Charmane McDaniel-Owens (Reginald, son-law),
Eddie Davis, and one sister, Barbara Pender; seven grandchildren -
Shelly, Donnell (proceeded in death), Tiffany, Stacy,
Taylor, Crystal, and Cory; eleven great grandchildren - Eric, Gary,
Desia, Bobbie, Shane, Zont'e, Te Jzon, Mont'e, Charleston, Corey,
and Jordy; four nieces/one nephew,
Lori, Joy, Kathy, Betsy, and Joseph (proceeded her in dearth) and
other relatives and friends.
