Our mother, Betty Yvonne Hurtt Godfrey, was born on September 29, 1946 to Mary Hurtt-Blocker and her husband William Hurtt, Sr. Both her parents predceded her in death. She departed this life suddenly on April 6, 2009. Our mother was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She matriculated to the Provident Nursing School and graduated as a Registered Nurse. She loved nursing and was privileged to work at Church Home Hospital, Northwest Nursing Home and Levindale Nursing Home where she worked for more than 20 years. Our mother was confronted with many tests and trials during her lifetime. In the midst of all of the life struggles confronting her, she treasured many of the simple things of life. She enjoyed watching old movies like, "Imitation of Life" and "Valley of the Dolls." She loved perfume and enjoyed the wonderful fragrance that they gave. She also loved playing cards. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Our mother was blessed with two sisters, Linda Mitchell who preceded her in death and Barbara Jackson. She was also blessed to have two brothers, Thomas Leroy Hurtt who also preceded her in death and William Kenny Hurtt Jr. Then came the six children; Sharon, Antinia, Gino, Angelina, Antonio who preced her in death, and Willitia. Our mother has many who mourn her passing. Among them are her suviviing children; Sharon Williams, Antinia Peanut Howe, Gino Skippy Howe, Angelina TinaCrest and Willitia Lita Godfrey. Her sister, Barbara Jackson and brother, William Hurtt, Jr. Her sons-in-law; Virgil Williams and Anthony Crest. Her grandchildren; Virgil, Shonte', Tierra, Antonio, Tavone, Quadiesha, Krystal, Jamal, Kiania, Taylor, Diamond, and Jayla. Her great-grandchildren; Mekhi, Luiani, and Jamayah. She also leaves twelve nieces and nephews; Melvina, Angie, Stephanie, Theresa, Wanda, Jackie, Keyshanna, Dinah , Brittany, Tawleiha, Kenny, and Yorel; a special great-nephew, Dorien, who knew her as "Grandma Betty;" her sisters-in-law; Mae Hurtt and Gloria Hurtt; and her brother-in-law; Kenneth Jackson. Our mother also leaves a great host of other close relatives and friends to numerous to name.
