IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Betty Sandra
Mccoy
October 11, 1946 – December 17, 2024
BETTY SANDRA McCOY, daughter of the late William and Ruby Lorraine Christopher, was born on October 11, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on December 17, 2024 after a lengthy illness.
Betty received her education in the Baltimore City Public School System where she graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. After high school, Betty gained employment at Union Memorial Hospital in the Environmental Services Department. She was so intrigued with the operating room that, under the guidance of some of her peers, she moved into a position of Anesthesia Technician; then she proceeded to move up the clinical ladder to become a Certified Surgical Scrub Technician, with the help of her peers, where she remained until she retired after 40-plus years.
Betty was also a member of a prestigious group called the Eastern Star, which represents Fidelity, Constancy, Loyalty, Faith and Love. After retirement, Betty stayed active by traveling, planning family gatherings, and supporting family and friends in events up until her health failed her.
Betty knew Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized in 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church.
Betty was preceded in death by three brothers (twin brother) William R. Christopher Jr., James R. Christopher and Roland L. Christopher.
Betty leaves to mourn: her son, John Christopher and twin daughters, Betty and Denise Gray; grandson, Darius Lawrence (Sakia); granddaughter, Dominique Kellum and loving, attentive step-grandson, Cameron Kellum; three brothers, Charles Cheatham (Barbara) and twin brothers Walter and George Christopher; sister, Gwendolyn Christopher; sister-in-law, Alberta Christopher; and a host of nieces and nephews.
