Betty Keith Solomon was born on March 12, 1934 in Ashville, North Carolina to Ruby and the late Joe Friday. However, she was love and raised by Melvin Grant who also preceded her in death. Betty was called home May 6, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Betty moved to Baltimore, Md. in her early teenage years and attended Douglass High School until graduation. She later attended Apex Beauty School and received her certificastion of completion. While attending school, she met and married Thomas Willie Carnell Solomon. From that union, three children weere born. Betty joined Mount Labanon Baptist Church in 1970, under the pastorship of Dr. Olin P. Moyd. She was very active in the church affiliations; the Board of Trustees, Senior chior, Sunday School Teacher, Pastor's Aides, and a number of other ministries. Betty enjoyed life and was loved by many. She was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand. At Betty's Beauty Salon, she served numerous people in the community where her "press and curls" were a specialty. She leaves to cherish her memory; her mother, Ruby Grant; children, Cornell Tommy, Tammy deceased, and Valerie; brother, Michael Grant; grandchildren, Chanelle, Lauren, and Luqman; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Kmani, and Tilea; daughter-in-law, Judy Solomon; and a host of other rrelatives and friends.
